Abstract
Traditionally, minidumpers can not be used in closed space due to the exhaust-gases of the internal combustion engines. This paper aims to give the guidelines to design an electric-powered minidumper. The power and the energy consumption of such vehicles are totally different with respect to those of vehicles for urban mobility. After the description of a typical minidumper load cycle, the main issues that characterize the sizing of the energy storage system as well as the electrical motor system are discussed. Considerations on the characteristics of different battery topologies and electrical motors have been included.
