Abstract
Summary form only given. Magnetic field does not diffuse uniformly into helical coils, such as those used in explosive magnetocumulative generators (MCGs). One cause is the proximity of adjacent coils, which perturbs the magnetic field and the subsequent diffusion. This can lead to increased resistive losses in the MCGs. This poster presents the results of an axisymmetric magnetic diffusion solver, and provides a method to estimate the additional resistive losses associated with the proximity effect. The proximity factor is calculated using a dissipation-based approach.
