Abstract
Issues surrounding the definition of tool requirements for CAE/CAD (computer-aided engineering/computer-aided design) vendors are considered. Particular attention is given to offeror instructions in connection with the promotion of CAE by the Computer-Aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (CALS) Office to improve the R&M (reliability and maintainability) characteristics of fielded weapon systems. Also considered are R&M~CAE requirements and associated barriers
