Abstract :
Cloud computing service providers are obligated to draw up service level agreements (SLAs) with their customers to guarantee the quality of the service. One of the important characteristics of SLAs is service availability. Five nines (99.999s%) availability and 24/7 operation concepts have become common and essential components of high-performance systems and SLAs. To achieve this service protection models may be used in cloud computing to ensure a high level of service availability. This paper studies and evaluates the availability of a one to one (1:1) service protection model in hybrid cloud computing architecture. Markov model was developed to determine the availability of the service protection model and discrete event simulation was developed to verify the findings. The results showed that adding the protection service improved the system´s availability. The simulator results proved the correction of the analytical model.
