  • Abstract
High data rate wireless communications links use highly bandwidth efficient modulations to get the most from the limited spectrum available. Many of these schemes are complex, requiring large amounts of computation and hardware complexity to accomplish their tasks. This paper presents a method by which a high data rate, short-range, unlicensed wireless link is obtained using a modulation with low bandwidth efficiency to ensure that the radiated power spectral density is below maximum allowed levels. An experimental ultrawideband system is described that is capable of transmitting up to 600 Mbps over distances of a few meters.
