Abstract :
HVDC plays a very important role in remote and large capacity power transmission in China. More and more HVDC inverters will terminate in the same receiving area, for example, in China Southern Power Grid and East China Power Grid. This paper studies the locations of the HVDC inverter stations in Zhejiang Power Grid. Based on the simulation results by PSS/E-31, this paper analyzes Zhejiang power grid in detail. Before doing the simulations, two different locations of the HVDC inverter stations are chosen in different areas of Zhejiang Power Grid according to the power consumption of the area. Then, several HVDC inverter locations are analyzed considering the whole system transient performance, including the stability of the power system in N-1 contingencies, the commutation failure of the HVDC inverters caused by AC line short circuits, the effects of DC link single pole block and bipole block, and the multi-infeed interaction strength of the Eastern China Power Grid. Besides the comparison of the operation performance of Zhejiang Power Grid under different locations of HVDC inverter stations, the weak points of Zhejiang Power Grid and the measure to improve the stability of Zhejiang Power Grid are discussed in the end of the paper.
