Abstract :
SPECAN algorithm is being widely used in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image formation. Its simple implementation has made it very popular among SAR scientists. It is also the most suitable algorithm for SCANSAR mode. The main drawback with this algorithm is that its resolution is not as high as that of the other leading algorithms in the field of SAR image reconstruction. In this paper our goal is to utilize a new method based on amplitude phase estimation (APES) filter bank approach in the structure of SPECAN algorithm, which is able to enhance the amount of resolution considerably.
