Abstract :
The 802.11 MAC protocol provides the point coordination function (PCF) to support a certain quality of service of real-time traffic in wireless LANs. We propose a polling scheme and establish a model based on a mixed service with batch arrivals to serve real-time traffic efficiently. By using Markov chain theory, the means of queue length and polling period for real-time traffic are derived and the performance of real-time traffic is discussed.
