Abstract :
In this paper an experimental investigation of dynamic off-body radio channels based on commercially available UWB wireless tags is presented. The tags operate at frequency band of 5.9~7.2 GHz. A measurement campaign was performed both in the chamber and in an indoor environment for comparison. The path loss for all nine different channels is shown and analysed and the effects of the body movements on the path loss were investigated. The results demonstrated that the lognormal distribution provides the best fit for the modelling of the path loss for dynamic off-body communication channels. The chest channel is found to be the most stable while the least stable is wrist channel for dynamic body scenarios.
