Abstract :
A planar antenna with a binary pattern on the radiating patch has been designed and optimized by the binary particle swarm optimization algorithm for wireless local area network operation. To obtain the desired results, the developed binary particle optimization code is applied as the external optimizer to drive the full-wave electromagnetic simulator, HFSS. The optimization process is automatically without any manual adjustment. Optimized results show that the proposed binary planar antenna achieves the design specification and covers the WLAN operating band at 2.45 GHz.
