Abstract
Increasingly manufacturers are promoting equipment which claims to increase the no of sample points per scan to over 1000 points. For inexperienced GPR users, this appears to be an advantage. In reality this is misleading and giving a false promise of “improved” data. This paper demonstrates, on the basis of the Nyquist theorem that 256 sample points per radar scan is more than enough.
