Abstract
In this study, a miniaturized high-isolation diversity antenna design is first proposed for application in terminal devices, based on incorporating a resistance absorption approach with a notched slot. This novel antenna is designed to cover UMTS frequency bands of I, III, and VIII, under a physical antenna size constraint of 30 × 5.1 × 4 mm. Measured results are plotted for comparison with those of published results, showing an isolation improvement of 10 dB reduction (from -14.5dB to -24.5dB) according to the compact ground-plane size requirement (68 × 40 mm).
