Abstract
Dust safety in chemical plants has received little attention in technical papers, yet dusts have a similar potential for fire and explosion as flammable vapors or gases. This paper discusses dust safety and provides guidelines for classifying dust locations and applying the National Electrical Code (NEC) to dusts areas. It does not cover ignition of dusts by static electricity or lightning
