Abstract :
The paper presents the design of a low-cost virtual instrument to measure temperature. Problem of development of instrument is the DB25 line limitation which is too short. To solve this problem, RJ45 is used with DB25 to be longer. There are several techniques in this paper such as DB25 to RJ 45 connection technique, analog to digital circuit technique, software technique and sensor technique. As a result, they make the students to understand how measurement system works by LabVIEW. Moreover, Lab VIEW is also used to teach digital signal processing. The graphical programming approach is based on data flow theory which is an ideal platform for learning how signals flow from one function to another. The result of experiment can show that reliability of measurement between using RJ45 with DB25 and only DB25. The techniques of basic instrument showed in this paper can be used to apply to be satiable application in engineering projects. Moreover, these specially techniques make instruments as cheaper
