Abstract :
With many advantages of rectangular waveguide and microstrip lines, substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) can be used for design of planar waveguide-like slot antenna. However, the bandwidth of this kind of antenna structure is limited. In this work, a parasitic dipole is introduced and coupled with the SIW radiate slot. The results have indicated that the proposed technique can enhance the bandwidth of the SIW slot antenna significantly. The measured bandwidth of fabricated antenna prototype is about 19%, indicating about 115% bandwidth enhancement than the ridged substrate integrated waveguide (RSIW) slot antenna.
