Abstract
A monopole slot MIMO antenna with small size for wireless USB dongle application at WLAN band (2.4 ~ 2.484 GHz) is proposed. The proposed antenna occupies a small area of 10.5 mm × 20 mm, which is composed of two identical folded antenna modules on both side and one isolated element. Each of the folded antenna modules consists of two open-ended monopole slot antennas with different lengths, which provide an operating band centered at about 2.4 GHz to cover the WLAN application band. In the operating band, good isolation over 17.8 dB is obtained by controlling the isolated element and open-ended monopole slot antennas. The proposed antenna can be easily fabricated on an FR4 substrate that is commonly used circuit board. Details of the structure and results of the proposed antenna are presented and discussed.
