Abstract :
This paper presents an isolation enhancement technique via a small rectangular ground plane protruded from a main ground plane for MIMO antenna applications. The MIMO antenna consists of two Planar Inverted-F Antennas (PIFAs) and is operated at the WCDMA band of 1.92-2.17 GHz. In this configuration, the electric field is more confined on each antenna, end-point and side-point of the ground plane. The measured gain and isolation (S21) of the proposed antenna are - 0.58 dBi and more than 25 dB, respectively. The calculated efficiency and envelope correlation coefficient are 50 % and less than 0.1, respectively.
