Abstract :
This article introduces a new time frequency distribution based on a kernel with compact support. The properties of the new distribution are emphasized. Through a parameter that controls the kernel width, the new representation allows a tradeoff between a good autoterm resolution and a high crossterm rejection. A signal representation example is provided and compared with respect to the Wigner distribution, the Choi-Williams (1989) distribution, the spectrograrn and the Born-Jordan distribution as a member of the reduced interference distribution class
