Abstract :
This paper introduces a novel and efficient method based on information theoretic metrics to evaluate the accuracy of the first-order Markov approximation for block errors in transmissions over fading channels. Numerical results show that our approach provides significant improvements in both accuracy and simplicity over previously proposed methods.
