Abstract :
A high gain hybrid monopole-dielectric resonator antenna is introduced. By loading a half-ring-shaped dielectric resonator over a monopole element in the vertical plane, two high-order modes are excited in the DR together with the self resonance of the monopole antenna. The achieved -10dB impedance bandwidth is 25%, covering the frequency range of 5.88 to 7.58 GHz. The simulated gain is about 7.3 ± 0.7dBi and fairly constant across the operating bandwidth.
