Abstract
A broadband planar antenna with circular polarization is proposed, fabricated and measured. Circular polarization (CP) radiation of the proposed antenna is achieved by introducing a cross branch at its corner. And the modified PIFA structure gives the antenna a broadband impedance bandwidth characteristic. For ease in integration with active devices and design facilitation, the radiating element and ground are etched on the same layer of the substrate. The antenna has a small dimension of 94mm×94mm, which is suitable for handheld terminal application of multi-mode satellite navigation. An antenna prototype is implemented and the measured results are shown.
