Abstract :
This paper discusses the plasma performance required for plant operation modes considering the grid operation for a demonstration reactor. Candidates of the operation mode considered in this paper are a rating operation, a load following operation, a frequency control operation, a tripping to house load operation, a ramp-up/down operation, and a commissioning operation. Among those operation modes, the rating operation, the ramp-up/down one, and the commissioning one are inevitable. Especially, the commissioning operation requires wide range operation flexibility for the fusion power. Operation flexibility on the fusion power by several control method is also discussed, and its requirement of plasma performance is shown using plasma parameters of a conceptual demonstration reactor concept Demo-CREST.
