  • Abstract
    Various gap-coupled array configurations of rectangular slot cut compact C-shaped microstrip antenna for broader bandwidth and higher gain are proposed. The slot in C-shaped patch reduces its orthogonal TM01 mode resonance frequency and along with fundamental TM10 mode resonance frequency, yields broader BW. The rectangular slot cut C-shaped patch yields bandwidth of more than 250 MHz. The gap-coupled configurations of three and five rectangular slot cut C-shaped patches yields bandwidth of more than 300 and 350 MHz, respectively. Further 3 × 3 array configuration of slot cut C-shaped patches is proposed. It yields bandwidth of more than 400 MHz (40%) with broadside radiation pattern and peak gain of 8.6 dBi.
