Abstract :
A new method for SAR images speckle reduction based on lifting wavelet transform is proposed. To evaluate the performance of this filter, the adaptive local statistics filters, which include Lee filter, Kuan filter, Frost filter and a wavelet-based soft-thresholding filter are applied to the speckle reduction for a same SAR image. The performances are compared in several aspects including mean, standard deviation and Equivalent Number of Looks. The results show that the algorithm presented in this paper performs better in restraining noise and remaining the edges and textures of image than the conventional filters do.
