Abstract :
The active Stark atomic spectroscopy (ASAS) diagnostic method can be applied to an ion diode with the obvious requirement of using probe atoms different from the ions being accelerated. For example, in a Li ion diode it is reasonable to use sodium atoms in the probe beam. The features of the ASAS diagnostic technique with Na atoms are practically the same as with Li atoms, and so a separate description is unnecessary here. The ASAS diagnostic method can be turned into a combined spectroscopic and particle diagnostic by crossing the atomic beam with three laser beams
