Abstract :
Compensated pulsed alternators (compulsators) with electromagnetic distribution shields are usually described from a constructive point of view. Generally, the mathematical theory for modelling compulsators is not well developed. The purpose of this paper is to present a theoretical investigation of compulsators based on the general dynamic theory of transient processes in synchronous machines. Particular emphasis is given to the developed general relations between mass and power characteristics. Results show that a significant frequency dependence of mass-power characteristics exists for compulsators operating at typical values for frequency and number of current pulses. This work also treats autonomous power energy systems with compulsators as components of modules with two and four pulse power channels
