Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a P2P-based content distribution mechanism for video-on-demand service in IPTV. Different from traditional P2P-based content distribution mechanisms, our solution mainly focuses on how telecom operators utilize P2P technology to construct/enhance their own content delivery network for IPTV. The proposed mechanism takes into account the influence on the design of P2P mechanism by the unique properties of the IPTV scenario, and tries to enhance the P2P-based service by utilizing the support of network QoS and server resources. Simulation results show that our solution can achieve good scalability while providing guaranteed video quality.
