Abstract :
A communication network architecture for smart grid based on broadband wireless communication technology, such as 3G, LTE, LTE-Advanced and etc., is proposed in this paper. As the emergency communication has critical requirement of wireless communication technology in the smart grid, a solution for emergency communications is designed based on LTE technology. In the solution, the TDD mode is used, and SC-FDMA uplink is configured with more time slot resources than OFDMA downlink. Considering terminal limits, such as power and volume, the antenna configuration is 1 × 2 for uplink and 2 ×2 for downlink. At the same time, HARQ and the adaptive modulation and coding techniques are used to improve transmission reliability and efficiency. The link level simulation is used to evaluate the solution. With QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM modulation based on 1×1 antenna and 1×2 MIMO, we simulate the uplink bit error rate based on different SNR. and compare different link performances under different modulation modes and antenna configurations.
