Abstract :
In this paper a unified control design of active front-end converters (AFECs) and active power filters (APFs), based on the synchronous d-q reference frame control method, well-known in the motor drives industry, is presented. The integral state feedback controller is used for the voltage and current control loop since it is well-suited for both the converters. The main advantage of the proposed methodology resides in the potentially lower design effort and the time-to-market required with respect to other design approaches. Simulations and experimental measurements have been performed to validate the proposed unified control design and controller.
