Abstract :
The paper describes the optical design of a line scanning laser ophthalmoscope (LSO). A line beam is used to illuminate the retina, meanwhile a linear array sensor is used for imaging the retina. For the Liou & Brennan eye model, we set the pupil diameter to be 2 mm, and the field of view is 6 degree on retinal plane (about 1.8 mm × 1.8 mm). ZEMAX optical modeling analysis shows that the main optical system achieves diffraction limit through the entire scanning angle. The magnification of the optical system is about 7 times, and the transverse resolution is less than 10 μm. For our 512 × 512 pixels imaging mode (the sensor line frequency is 98 KHZ), the frame frequency can achieve 200 fps.
