Abstract
The performance of a steerable beam adaptive array is affected by a number of factors including the signal to noise ratio of the desired input, other undesired signals, the number and spacing between sensor elements, the feedback loop gain of the array, and the reliability of prior knowledge on the direction of the desired signal. This paper provides a detailed derivation and a comprehensive discussion on the effect of such factors on the overall performance of steerable adaptive arrays.
