Abstract :
Image resolution of the multihole collimator gamma rays camera is always an issue. In this paper, we present a comparative study of various methods proposed to increase the resolution of images captured by a gamma camera using the Wiener filtering. A simulated multihole collimator gamma camera was used, modelled by the Monte Carlo N-Particles Code version MCNPX. The phantoms that were used in this paper are a square source and two point sources, both were located in air and a 7068cm3 water cylinder. The comparison is divided into two sections. First is the comparison in terms of power spectrum estimations, and second is the comparison in terms of Wiener-related filtering methods. The results show that, in terms of the signal to noise ratio, the critical separation point and the critical Rayleigh criterion point, the best method among all presented methods is the original Wiener filtering with Goodman and Belsher´s spectrum estimation technique.
