  • Abstract
The dynamic characteristic of a mho distance relay is a characteristic that exists in all non-self-polarizing mho distance relays especially in microprocessor relays. This characteristic is often ignored, not known, or has not been considered when the mho distance function is tested. This paper gives a basic overview of how the dynamic characteristic manifests and how it can improve the transmission line protection. From the basic concept of the mho dynamic characteristic, a new effective yet economical testing method is recommended.
