Abstract
Simulation is an effective and economical method to analyze the performance of electromagnetic railgun system which is described by the interactions among electromagnetic, mechanical and thermodynamic loop. Different from many traditional methods for component-level simulation, a novel simulation system for electromagnetic railgun system is proposed based on High Level Architecture (HLA) for operations of current and future railgun. According to analyzing the system based on function, a distributed and interactive simulation method is put forward on performance analysis and visual display during the whole work process. Then, simulation system framework, design of object model, run mechanism of interactive simulation and integration method are discussed in detail. Finally, a practical development example of a railgun performance simulation based on multiple capacitor modules discharging using the distributed simulation system is introduced. Simulation results show that the simulation system meets the requirements of simulation. Furthermore, the electromagnetic railgun simulation system developed in this paper, simulating the whole work process of the railgun on distributed conditions, provides a flexible, extensible and visual platform to the more complex military system research.
