Abstract :
This paper presents the analysis and design of an inductor-less charge pump PFC electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps. A piezoelectric transformer is used as the entire resonant tank which greatly reduces the cost and complexity of the system. The operation principle of the ballast was analyzed, including the design considerations required to achieve unity power factor and zero voltage switching. Experimental results show that by using lamp current feedback control, the proposed circuit features low lamp current crest factor and constant lamp power.
