  • Abstract
Forward error correction coding, space diversity, power control, and rate control techniques are considered methods for mitigating fading degradation. We investigate the relative effectiveness of these techniques by comparing the minimum E¯b/N0s needed for error-free transmission, and then by comparing asymptotic maximum average data rates with orthogonal signals in frequency-nonselective Rayleigh-fading channels
