  • Abstract
    Power distribution network usually have many overhead-lines and cables, fault location for lines mixed with overhead line and cable is very important. The framework of distributed line is radical, so the method of single terminal fault location is necessary. But, if the traditional power cable fault location method is applied to power cable and overhead line power network, the accuracy of fault location will be affected by the following two questions. Firstly, traveling wave generated by fault will produce reflection and refraction in the power cables and overhead lines connected nodes and this process of reflection and refraction is very complex, as a result traveling wave crest is difficult to detect; secondly,the reflection wave from fault point is difficult to distinguish. In order to solve this problem, a method of a HHT based single terminal traveling wave fault location for lines combined with overhead-lines and cables is proposed in the paper.
