  • Abstract
A channel cognitive super-regenerative receiver (SRR) system is proposed for low-power sensor network applications. Since the proposed system is designed based on the super-regeneration concept, the receiver is activated and yields the output demodulated signal only for valid incoming RF signals. While the super-regenerative oscillator (SRO) is designed with frequency tunability by a varactor diode, the envelope detection circuit achieves channel selectivity. From the experimental results, the SRO has presented channel selective output power with a channel rejection radio of about 10 dBc. The proposed SRR system has been evaluated for validating the incoming OOK-modulated input with a data rate of 50 kbps at a quenching signal of 200 kHz by threshold detection. The proposed system has presented the excellent capability of channel cognition and selectivity.
