Abstract
An adaptive controller differs from an ordinary controller in that the controller parameters are variable, and there is a mechanism for adjusting these parameters based on system performance. This paper investigates the possibility of allowing for hysteretic constructive laws by an adaptive scheme instead of a augmenting the control phase space dimension. The final goal is the optimization of a fuzzy controller for nonlinear structural systems under seismic excitation
