Abstract :
Cryptographic modernization is a permanent process sustained by the increasing necessities of security. In correlation with dynamic evolution of the society also we need to rediscover the concept of trust. A technical solution for all of these comes from cryptographic portable devices such as smart-cards, tokens etc. In the middle of cryptographic system, besides algorithms, is the key management system based on random number generator (RNG). The goal of this paper is a flexible approach of the RNG based on digital oscillator in addition with extractor module (EM) and random number validation module (RNVM). For small quantities a flexible design, balanced between hardware and software implementation, offer the optimum relation between performances and costs. The solution permits to implement on the same hardware, different test routines or other functions regarding the security necessities. There are also considered the influences of the environment on the data stream provided by RNG
