Abstract
Short guard bit optical burst transmission is demonstrated using an active reset technique to automatic threshold control circuit in an optical receiver. The required guard bit for pulse amplitude recovery is as short as 3 bits, with a large dynamic range of 23 dB which is sufficient for a passive optical network (PON) system
