Abstract :
The article focuses on utilization possibilities of alternative sources of electricity which are applied to the operation of wastewater treatment plants. These sources would allow to obtain excess energy from wastewater and thus contribute to the creation of a new source of energy. Another option may be seen in the involvement of renewable resources into the operation of the plant and thus reducing the operating costs. The article further focuses on a model of a small hydropower plant realized in the outlet of a wastewater treatment plant. The article also contains an introduction of a small hydropower plant model which is provided with input parameters returns the plant´s size and an approximate amount of electricity production from WWTP.
