  • Abstract
The following problem is considered: given a power system, its current operating point, and a set of critical contingencies, find (a) corrective actions for each critical contingency, and (b) the change in the current operating point that would make the corrective actions as small as possible. The solution to this problem is a set of plans of action required for each of the critical contingencies. The authors decompose the contingency-constrained optimum power flow problem into a number of subproblems that can be solved in parallel. They propose a cooperative approach to solving these subproblems. The approach has been tested on a number of difficult optimization problems. Two of these are presented as illustrative examples
