DALI-a digital addressable lighting interface for lighting electronics

A new standard for the light control of fluorescent lamps operated with electronic control gears (ECG) is described. Beside the background information on the first investigations of that technique, the intentions to introduce such a standard, the procedure to come finally to a new IEC standard and the most important aspects of its content are explained. The potential applications for such ECGs and some specific technical details of the standard are discussed, too. The standard is going to be published as Committee Draft for Voting (CDV) document and should come into force in 2002.
