Abstract :
The principles of intelligent control and the design of an expert intelligent control system (EICS) are discussed. Based on these principles, a novel control system is proposed to deal with the process control of gas carburizing furnaces. Since no critical and accurate mathematical models of the controlled plants are required, this EICS can be directly applied to many industrial furnaces. Its benefits are demonstrated by digital simulation and practical experiments
