Development of standard middleware for software of process control system (ICCAS 2008)

While commercial middleware have general functionalities of various services, they are too heavy for POSCO systems with needs of relatively speedy control of process and donpsilat support various hardware platforms and operating systems. In posco, middleware with multi-platform support, necessary functionalities customized for POSCO, maintainability and easily upgradable characteristics as userpsilas growing demands is really needed. To solve this problem, POSCO standard middleware with multi-platform support. was developed. The middleware provides user applications with file access service, shared memory access service, message exchange mechanism between processes, periodic timer service and common standard interface to the external system such as databases and various systems with their own specific protocols. Though this, it can provide application developers with standard environment for application development.
