Abstract
After a brief discussion of active multiplier realizations, the authors focus on the synthesis of bipolar microwave frequency doublers in several topologies. The synthesis is outlined in four fundamental steps which encompass embedding network synthesis, device selection, bias optimization, and drive power determination. Results are presented on recently developed designs which provide the potential of good conversion gain and fundamental and higher harmonic suppression
