Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to calculate the pulsating losses at laminated pole-faces in synchronous reluctance motors. To determine these losses, it is necessary to calculate the values of magnetic flux density on both sides of the air gap: near the rotor surface and near the stator surface. For this purpose, two different estimations of magnetic flux density are made. The first is completely analytical while in the second, the magnetic flux density distribution is calculated by computer using the finite element method. Then the pulsating losses are calculated by using a reduced Helmholtz´s differential equation and the first Maxwell equation. Finally, the measured and calculated values are compared
