Abstract :
Spectral analysis to cardiac cycle length variations is discussed, and an inherent problem in nonuniformity of sample spacing is indicated. This nonuniformity can cause significant amounts of energy to be moved from the proper frequency into neighboring sidelobes. Resampling in the time domain prevents the energy redistribution in the frequency domain and preserves the spectral peaks associated with autonomic activity
