Abstract
Summary form only given. ISKRA-6 facility, the RFNC-VNIIEPH laser for thermonuclear ignition research, requires 2600 main energy storage capacitors of 83.5 kJ at 24 kV with a discharge nominal peak current of 26 kA and 130 preionization capacitors of 17.3 kJ at 24 kV with a discharge nominal peak current of 30 kA. ICAR metallized BOPP capacitors were selected for Iskra-6 project because of their high performances, high reliability and strict manufacturing and quality program. The paper illustrate the design and the technology features of these capacitors, the performance and life tests carried out for their qualification, and the manufacturing and quality program set up to guarantee a constant high quality of the whole supply.
